Jakarta – The bid of Syamsudin Noor Airport to become an International airport shows its feasibility. Changi Airport Group (CAG) Singapore cooperated with the Provincial Government of South Kalimantan opens the direct flight from Banjarmasin to Singapore and vice versa.
This cooperation was attended by the Governor of South Kalimantan, Rudy Arifin in Indonesia Hotel Kempinski, Jakarta, Wednesday on 3rd of September.
Rudy explained, the planned
flight of direct route from Banjarmasin to Singapore and vice versa is the
first International flight in Syamsudin Noor airport. By this collaboration, it
is expected to bring benefits to both sides especially in driving the growth of
economic and tourism so there will be more tourists coming to south Kalimantan.
South Kalimantan is a good spot for business investment. It offers a peaceful
place and friendly for investment as supported by adequate and improving
infrastructures. He added
The plan to develop Syamsudin Noor Airport into an international airport will happen soon. Provincial government in 2012 had allocated budget for Detail Engineering Design) to extend the runway to 3000 meters, parallel taxiway and apron.
Furthermore, the master plan of the airport’s renovation has been ratified by Transportation Ministry, so that the project can be started and next year and expected to finish next three years.
God willing, Syamsudin Noor Airport could become the best and the most beautiful airport in Indonesia. He stated. Its readiness to become an international airport is approved and supported by the stakeholders attending the meeting.
Meanwhile, Senior Advisor of CAG Singapore, Wong Soon Liong stated his feeling of proud to see the cooperation happens. Because, Indonesia and Singapore have been connected in business, social, economy and politic Banjarmasin would become a potential flight for Changi Airport, he stated.
Airlines attending to the meeting, Tigerair, Jetstar/Valuair, Silkair, Garuda Indonesia and Lion Air generally support the concept and welcome to open international flights from Banjarmasin to Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei after having a research.
