Banjarmasin – 96 people died, 18 wounded, and 6 people suffered minor injury due to the accident of Banua Air Boeing 737-900 in Banjarmasin (25/06). That plane failed to take off caused by technical problem and crushed in the end of runway 10 of Syamsudin Noor Airport at 09.45 a.m., WITA. Seeing that condition, the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) directly sounded the crash bell and contacted the watch room officer and Airport Fire Fighting and Rescue Team (AFFR) to visit the accident’s location. The rescue team tried to make rescue line to evacuate and save passenger from fire.
The supportive personnel consist of SAR Banjarmasin personnel, Brigade Fire Fighting Banjarbaru city, TNI AU Syamsudin Noor, and Police of Banjarbaru directly helped and evacuate the victims. Those victims were checked and identified by port health office of Syamsudin Noor Airport to get advance aid.
Meanwhile, the location of AFFR team ensured that the fire has been vanished. SAR team ensured that the victims have been evacuated. Aviation Security unit (AVSEC) of Syamsudin Noor Airport handled the pacification of location assisted by TNI AU Lanud Syamsudin Noor and POLRES and POLSEK Banjarbaru. That location was given a police line and watched until National Transportation Safety Committee team come for advance identification.
In separated place, it was reported that there were fire in one of arrival terminal buildings caused by short electricity problem. As the consequence, an airline officer was unconscious after being affected by fire smoke and evacuated to the nearest hospital. That fire affected to the airline service system (system down) so that it made one passenger being left and triggered chaos in front of check in area. Meanwhile, a customer service officer received bomb threat from a mysterious person.
Those cases were part of Full Scale Excercise scenarios or Airport Emergency Plan of Syamsudin Noor Airport Banjarmasin. From those cases, it was recorded that the response was less than 3 minutes, which fit to the standard of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). This full scale training was participated by 350 personnel from Airport Fire Fighting and Rescue team, Aviation Security (Avsec), Fire Fighting Banjarbaru, BASARNAS, TNI AU Lanud Syamsudin Noor, Polres and Polsek Banjarbaru, Rindam, Port health office, Communication and Information agency Banjarbaru city, TNI AU hospital, etc.
In that moment, the Operation Director of PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) Mr. Yushan Sayuti, explained that the Full Scale Training that has been done in all of branch offices of PT Angkasa Pura I is routinely done in 5 airports every year. Our hope is that all of parties such as airport consumer, airlines, concessioner, etc. also take a part when the emergency happens anytime. He also added, this simulation is also aimed to keep the qualification of procedural standard in Syamsudin Noor Airport, as this year, this airport served 3,88 million passengers and 32 thousands of airlines traffic.
The background of this activity is stated on Airport Security Program (ASP) and Airport Emergency Plan (AEP). It is as a guideline in case a threat of security occurred. It is also stated that for a civil airport, if there is any threat, the general manager will lead the operation, if it is a civil enclave (military airport functioned as civil airport), so the operation is led by TNI (Indonesia Military Forces)
This AEP in Syamsyudin Noor Airport is part of the 77th Dirgantara Raharja, PT> Angkasa Pura I (persero). It is aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Emergency Plan Organization in Syamsyudin Noor Airport. Besides, it is also aimed to test the function of commands, communication and coordination between units and related instances through AEP procedures and to improve the ability of each personnel (Translated by Yeni Mujiatin).
