Syamsudin Noor Airport Held Fire Prevention & Protection Simulation

Banjarbaru - Syamsudin Noor Airport held a socialization and simulation namely Fire Prevention and Protection on September 7, 2017 to increase awareness upon dangerous goods or flammable goods in the workplace of Syamsudin Noor Airport. Located at the Fire Fighting & Rescue building are, the event started at 09.00 am and was attended by Syamsudin Noor Airport management, PT Angkasa Pura Logistik, and EMPU as cargo maintenance.

"We are organizing this event as a part of the preparation of Full Emergency Exercise that will be held on October 12, 2017. It has not involved all parties for now, but later on  we will also hold a rehearsal to ensure the successful of this event. "Handy Heryudhitiawan explained during the opening ceremony.

He also added  " This exercise will allow airport staff and other external parties to test a wide – range of efforts for response and rescue especially when the unexpected situation happened such as fire. Every airport operator must at least conduct this exercise twice a year. It is the third times for Syamsudin Noor Airport to conduct this event.”

The participants consist of seven Aviation Security personnel, seven officers from Angkasa Pura Logistik, and six from Empu as cargo maintenance. They were briefed about many materials including the principle of fire occurrence, the placement of Fire Extinguishers, and how to use the tool while the personnel from Angkasa Pura Logistik explained deeper about dangerous goods.

Syamsudin Noor Airport took a different approach by involving all participants to fire fighting simulation by using Fire Extinguishers and fire blanket method with the assistance of fire fighter personnels.

Airport Operations & Services Department Head, Ruly Artha emphasizes "We also focus on dangerous goods because it needs different treatment such as not using water. We are glad that all participants working collaboratively to execute the response to this simulated fire prevention & protection. (BDJ Communication)
