Banjarbaru - Syamsudin Noor Airport held a simulation of power outage or may be called as Electricity Planned Outage exercise on Tuesday, 23 August 2016 at 21:00 Central Indonesian Time last night. The simulation that involves almost all units at Syamsudin Noor Airport aims to optimize service to service users and mitigate risk on the impact of the power outage in the environment of Syamsudin Noor Airport.

“The whole unit tonight will work together to control the conditions when the power goes out. The goal is to test the strength of the existing power at Syamsudin Noor Airport because when the power goes out, we have to make sure the power is restored to normal quickly. Conditions of service users should also be considered. Please make sure they are safe and remain calm.” said General Manager, Handy Heryudhitiawan.

To ensure service users are well informed, the airport information officer should announce the outage through loudspeakers. Previously the internal meetings have been conducted by Syamsudin Noor Airport and coordinate with related agencies such as PLN, Cargo, up to business partners who have previously received an announcement of power outages.

“Business partners have been informed about simulation of this power outage by mail and most are already preparing emergency lights.” said Handy Heyudhitiawan.

The Electricity Planned Outage started from the administrative office area until the terminal of Syamsudin Noor Airport starting at 21.00 Central Indonesian Time. For approximately 25 minutes the power was turned by PLN. However, only 11 seconds the time required by the power of Syamsudin Noor Airport to re-ignited with back-up of generators powered 1 x 2000 kva will automatically turn on all power at Syamsudin Noor Airport or commonly called the auto running.

Electricity from PLN was re-ignited at 21:25 Central Indonesian Time. It takes about 2 minutes for electricity stabilized. Simulations with a duration of 25 minutes is running smoothly with the result of AFL light normal, light normal, utility normal, safety equipment normal, and distribution pumps and hydrant pumps normal.

“From the reports received by the entire units, there are no important constraints during a power outage. There are several inputs such as additional emergency lights at some points. There are some inputs, such as increasing the number of emergency lights at some points as the toilet making it easier for service users when power outages. This evaluation will be used as input to the improvement of the future.” said Handy Heryudhitiawan

The activities that took place from 21:00 until 21:25 Central Indonesian Time ran well and smoothly and did not disrupt service to service users of Syamsudin Noor Airport.
